I started my scarf for the big day. The big needles and big yarn are making quick work of the project. This is how much I completed with only a couple hours of knitting!!

One of my coworkers brought this tasty looking candy back to the office from his trip to Greece. I took one thinking it was going to be made of marzipan but was sadly disappointed when I ate it. It turned out to be a sugar paste surrounding some whole cloves. Now, I’m all for herb/spice flavors used in wonderful and fantastic ways in candy. The feeling of biting into whole cloves, however, was a bit much for me to handle… The flavor would have been much better spread throughout the paste and with a little less intensity.

Tonight I made soup for dinner. I absolutely love soup!! This particular soup is a selection from Andrew’s new copy of Veganomicon. It was quite scrumptious. I took some photos of the prep work and am planning to post them on my food blog, Tidbits and Sips, soon. That’s right; I’m planning on getting into my food blog again (complete with photographs). I’m thinking of doing a fall and winter of soups. We’ll see…

It was such a beautiful day today!! The weather was lovely, even hot at times. It was just gorgeous in the shade, though. So, Andrew and I decided to visit the Morris Arboretum for a little picnic. I made some wonderful tuna sandwiches. It was a lovely time. I spent the last 45 minutes of our visit napping on the blanket.

It’s time for dinner!! For my guinea pigs that is… For those of you who don’t know them, these are my two guinea pigs, Bran (the brown and white one posing in the back) and Wyn (the one with his head popping out of the house). Tonight they are dining on lettuce, celery, cucumber and apple. They seem to be loving every minute of it…

So, despite the fact that Andrew and I brought home a crapload of apples from the orchard trip on Saturday, I’m currently eating a supermarket-purchased apple. Why? Because they didn’t have honeycrisp apples at the orchard. I rest assured, however, that all the apples from the orchard will find happy homes in Andrew’s tasty jams…
